“Agent. Contract. Screaming.”

Since TechBoo started a new job last fall, he doesn’t have the same access to email and phone that he did in his previous job. So when he texted me to see how my meeting went this morning with the agent who is interested in the co-parenting book that El Ex and I are co-authoring, he hadn’t yet received my email about it.

TechBoo text: So text me the quick and dirty.

Me: Agent. Contract. Screaming.

And really…that about sums it up.  There’s a longer back story about how we got connected with this particular agent and so forth, but suffice it to say that she’s great, she’s smart, she’s connected, AND she loves and believes in our book proposal.  By meeting’s end, she’d email me a contract and collaborator’s agreement for our consideration.  She’ll start talking up our book next week in NYC to editor-folk, and while our proposal is apparently already super-fantastic, she’s got a few things for us to tweak to make it even stronger.

And…she wants to represent me going forward for future projects related to co-parenting, and unrelated. I’ve got some legal and literary friends looking at the particulars, and I’m looking forward to tackling the agent’s tweaking requests.

It looks like I have an agent.

I think I just finally stopped screaming. I’ve been Tweeting and laughing and crying on the phone all morning.  Crying because I would give anything to be able to share this news with my mother.

Okay, I need to eat something.  Worked out this morning at 6:30 and been running ever since…on water and a banana.

Oh, happy day!

If anyone can find Mahalia Jackson’s rendition of this–without me having to create an entire playlist on lastfm–I will love you forever.

Best news I’ve heard all day!! Relish in this moment, woman! You should be proud of yourself. To bounce back from divorce, co-parent with your ex, find a new love, find a way to combine many households, develop a website with said ex and now a book deal–you are hot mamalicious indeed!!

    Thanks, Heather!

I checked out your blog. Recently, I was talking with someone about co-parenting (that happens a lot, lol), and she mentioned how co-parents can learn a lot from open adoption families. I’ve been meaning to reach out to Dawn at http://openadoptionsupport.com/ about this, and if you’re interested, I’d like to talk to you as well. I’m drafting the email in my head as I type this… :-) Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, GG! When you put it like that, you make me wanna pat myself on the back, lol! I did relish/am relishing, indeed. I am thankful for my bounce-back-itude, and thankful for connections with positive folks like you who don’t believe in pity parties, blame games, and negativity. I have good company and great role models! xoxoxo, ~Deesha
