Run, Girl

So, I decided to run a 5K this fall.
Choose local 5K…check.
Get TechBoo on board to train and run with me…check
Enlist some good girlfriends as additional running/walking/workout partners…check.
If I can do this, anyone can!!

Nice job! I’ve trained a ton of people to do 5Ks from scratch. It’s not too hard, but the patience and dedication is one of the most important factors in training. Consistency is most important. Oh, and be wary of shin splints. Do a lot of shin muscle work, toe circles, and calf raises.

Thanks P2H! I have been reading up on preventing injuries and was surprised to read, from multiple sources, that stretching is recommended after the run, not before. The shin muscle work, etc., that you mention…is this also post-run?

This is great. I’m with you next year. I’ll repeat papa2hapa’s advice and be careful and don’t injure yourself. If you’ve been following my updates on FB you know I need to take my own advice!

Let’s hope you never have to run from a tiger then!
I never, ever, ever envisioned myself running. But it’s very empowering, a great sense of accomplishment.
